ہمیشہ امتِ محمدی کی کوئی نہ کوئی جماعت برسرِ جہاد رہے گی
حضرت جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول کریم ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: “یہ دین (اسلام) ہمیشہ قائم رہے گا اور مسلمانوں میں سے ایک نہ ایک جماعت اس دین کی حفاظت کے لیے قیامت (قائم ہونے کے قریب) تک لڑتی رہے گی (یعنی روئے زمین جہاد سے خالی نہیں رہے گی، کہیں نہ کہیں اور کسی نہ کسی صورت میں ہمیشہ جہاد ہوتا رہے گا)۔” (مسلم)
جہاد کا مطلب ہے انتہائی قوت سے حملہ آور دشمن کی مدافعت کرنا، اصطلاحِ شریعت میں جہاد کا مفہوم یہ ہے کہ کفار کے ساتھ لڑی جانے والی جنگ میں اپنی طاقت خرچ کرنا، اس طرح کہ خواہ اس میں اپنی جان کو پیش کیا جائے یا اپنے مال کے ذریعہ مدد کی جائے اور خواہ اپنی عقل و تدبیر یعنی اپنی رائے اور مشوروں کا تعاون دیا جائے یا محض اسلامی لشکر میں شامل ہو کر اس کی نفری میں کثرت و اضافہ کیا جائے اور یا ان کے علاوہ کسی بھی طریقے سے دشمنانِ اسلام کے مقابلے میں اسلامی لشکر کی معاونت و حمایت کی جائے، جہاد کا نصب العین یہ ہے کہ دنیا میں ہمیشہ اللہ کا بول بالا رہے، اللہ تعالیٰ کی سرزمین پر اس کا جھنڈا سربلند رہے اور اس کے باغی منکروں کا دعویٰ سرنگوں رہے۔
جہاد اسلام کا ایک رکنِ اعظم ہے، جہاد قیامت تک جاری رہے گا، یہ فرضِ کفایہ ہے لیکن جس شہر اور ملک کے مسلمانوں کو کفار اور دشمنانِ دین کی جارحیت اور جنگی حملوں کا سامنا کرنا پڑ رہا ہو اور وہ کافروں کے مقابلہ سے اور اپنے دفاع سے عاجز ہو جائیں اور دشمنوں کا مقابلہ کرنے میں کمزور یا ناکام ہو جائیں تو اس وقت ان کے پڑوسی شہر و ملک کے مسلمانوں بلکہ مابین المشرق و المغرب کے تمام مسلمانوں پر واجب ہوگا کہ وہ جہاد میں شریک ہو کر اسلام اور مسلمانوں کے وقار کا تحفظ اور دشمنانِ دین کا دعویٰ سرنگوں کریں، اسی طرح جب کافر مسلمانوں کے ملک پر چڑھ دوڑ آئیں تو ہر مسلمان پر جہاد فرض ہے یہاں تک کہ عورتوں اور بوڑھوں اور بچوں پر بھی اور اس کے ترک سے سب گناہ گار ہوں گے، لیکن آج ہمارے زمانہ میں چند دنیادار، خوشامد خورے، جھوٹے، دغاباز مولویوں نے کافروں کی خاطر عام مسلمانوں کو بہکا دیا ہے کہ اب جہاد فرض نہیں رہا ہے، ان کو اللہ تعالیٰ سے ڈرنا چاہیے اور توبہ کرنی چاہیے، جہاد کی فرضیت قیامت تک باقی رہے گی، جیسا کہ اس حدیثِ مبارکہ سے بھی معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ اسلام اسی سبب سے قائم رہے گا کہ مسلمانوں میں سے کوئی نہ کوئی جماعت اور کوئی نہ کوئی قوم ہمیشہ دین کے دشمنوں سے لڑتی رہے گی اور اللہ کے باغیوں کا دعویٰ سرنگوں کرتی رہے گی۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کا ارشاد پاک ہے۔
“کافروں سے جنگ کرو یہاں تک کہ فتنہ باقی نہ رہے اور دین اللہ کے لیے ہو جائے۔” (البقرہ ۔۱۹۳)
اس آیت میں دین اسلام کو غالب کرنے کے لیے جہاد کا حکم دیا گیا ہے اور ساتھ ہی یہ ارشاد ہوا کہ دین کو غالب کرنے کی راہ میں رکاوٹیں پیدا کرنے کا فتنہ جب تک ختم نہ ہو جائے اس وقت تک جنگ کرتے رہو۔ ایک اور جگہ ارشادِ باری تعالیٰ ہے۔
“آخر کیا وجہ ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں ان بے بس مردوں، عورتوں اور بچوں کی خاطر نہ لڑو جو کمزور پا کر دبا لیے گئے اور فریاد کر رہے ہیں کہ اے ہمارے رب! اس بستی سے نکال جس کے باشندے ظالم ہیں اور اپنی طرف سے ہمارا کوئی حامی و مددگار پیدا فرما۔” (النساء ۔۷۵)
یعنی جن مسلمانوں پر ظلم و ستم ہو رہا ہے، خواہ وہ دنیا کے کسی بھی حصہ میں بستے ہوں ان کو ظلم و ستم سے نجات دلانے کے لیے دوسرے تمام مسلمانوں کو جہاد کے لیے اٹھ کھڑا ہونا چاہیے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ تمام امت کو جہاد کے مقصد و معنی اور اس کی فرضیت کی صحیح فہم عطا فرمائے اور مجاہدینِ اسلام کی ہر طرح سے مدد کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔

اس آیت میں دین اسلام کو غالب کرنے کے لیے جہاد کا حکم دیا گیا ہے اور ساتھ ہی یہ ارشاد ہوا کہ دین کو غالب کرنے کی راہ میں رکاوٹیں پیدا کرنے کا فتنہ جب تک ختم نہ ہو جائے اس وقت تک جنگ کرتے رہو۔ ایک اور جگہ ارشادِ باری تعالیٰ ہے۔
“آخر کیا وجہ ہے کہ تم اللہ کی راہ میں ان بے بس مردوں، عورتوں اور بچوں کی خاطر نہ لڑو جو کمزور پا کر دبا لیے گئے اور فریاد کر رہے ہیں کہ اے ہمارے رب! اس بستی سے نکال جس کے باشندے ظالم ہیں اور اپنی طرف سے ہمارا کوئی حامی و مددگار پیدا فرما۔” (النساء ۔۷۵)
یعنی جن مسلمانوں پر ظلم و ستم ہو رہا ہے، خواہ وہ دنیا کے کسی بھی حصہ میں بستے ہوں ان کو ظلم و ستم سے نجات دلانے کے لیے دوسرے تمام مسلمانوں کو جہاد کے لیے اٹھ کھڑا ہونا چاہیے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ تمام امت کو جہاد کے مقصد و معنی اور اس کی فرضیت کی صحیح فہم عطا فرمائے اور مجاہدینِ اسلام کی ہر طرح سے مدد کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Messenger ﷺ said: “This religion (Islam) will forever remain established, and one group after another from among the Muslims will keep fighting to protect this religion until the Day of Judgement (until close to its coming) — that is, the face of the earth will never be devoid of jihad; in some place or another, and in some form or another, jihad will always continue.”
The literal meaning of jihad is to repel with the utmost strength an enemy who attacks; in the terminology of the Shari'ah, jihad means to expend one's strength in the war fought against the disbelievers — whether by offering one's own life, or helping with one's wealth, or contributing one's intellect, opinion and counsel, or merely by joining the Muslim army and adding to its numbers, or by supporting and backing the Muslim army against the enemies of Islam in any other way. The objective of jihad is that the word of Allah should always remain supreme in the world, that His banner should fly high over His earth, and that the claim of the rebellious deniers against Him should be brought low.
Jihad is one of the greatest pillars of Islam; it will continue until the Day of Judgement. It is a communal obligation (fard kifayah), but when the Muslims of a city or country face the aggression and military assaults of the disbelievers and the enemies of the faith, and they become unable to confront the disbelievers and to defend themselves, or are too weak or fail in confronting the enemy, then at that time it becomes obligatory upon the Muslims of the neighbouring cities and countries — indeed upon all the Muslims between the east and the west — to join the jihad and to safeguard the honour of Islam and the Muslims and to bring low the claim of the enemies of the faith. Likewise, when the disbelievers invade the land of the Muslims, jihad becomes obligatory upon every Muslim, even upon women, the elderly and children, and all will be sinful for abandoning it. But today, in our age, some worldly, flattering, lying, deceitful mullahs have, for the sake of the disbelievers, misled the common Muslims into thinking that jihad is no longer obligatory; they ought to fear Allah and to repent. The obligation of jihad will remain until the Day of Judgement, as is also clear from this blessed hadith — that Islam will remain established for this very reason: that some group and some nation from among the Muslims will always keep fighting the enemies of the faith and bringing low the claim of those who rebel against Allah. Allah the Exalted says:
“Fight the disbelievers until there is no more persecution and the religion is for Allah alone.” (Al-Baqarah 2:193)
In this verse the command of jihad has been given so that the religion of Islam may prevail, and along with it comes the instruction to keep fighting until the persecution that creates obstacles in the path of making the religion prevail is brought to an end. In another place Allah the Exalted says:
“And why should you not fight in the cause of Allah for those helpless men, women and children who, being weak, are oppressed and who cry out: ‘Our Lord! Bring us out of this town whose people are oppressors, and appoint for us from Yourself a protector and a helper.’” (An-Nisa 4:75)
That is, in whatever part of the world those Muslims who are being oppressed and wronged may live, all the other Muslims should rise up in jihad to deliver them from oppression and injustice.
May Allah the Exalted grant the whole Ummah a correct understanding of the purpose and meaning of jihad and of its obligation, and grant the mujahidin of Islam every kind of help and support.
