منافق کی علامتیں

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There are four habits such that whoever has all four of them in him is a pure hypocrite, and whoever has one of these four traits has in him one trait of hypocrisy until he gives up that habit. These four habits are: 1. When something is entrusted to him, he betrays the trust; 2. When he speaks, he lies; 3. When he makes a covenant, he breaks it; and 4. When he quarrels with someone, he resorts to foul language (abuse and cursing).” (Bukhari and Muslim)

A real hypocrite is in fact one who did not accept Islam from the heart but outwardly presents himself as a Muslim for worldly reasons, as was the case of Abdullah bin Ubayy (the chief of the hypocrites) in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Their hypocrisy is in reality the worst and most disgraceful kind of disbelief, and about these very hypocrites there is a whole surah in the Holy Qur'an (Al-Munafiqun). But there are certain bad habits that have a special relation and connection to these hypocrites; if some Muslim unfortunately has any one of them, it will be considered that this hypocritical habit is in him, and if someone unfortunately has all of these habits gathered in him, his entire character will be considered fully hypocritical. Therefore, just as it is necessary for a Muslim to avoid disbelief and polytheism, in exactly the same way it is also necessary that he protect himself from hypocritical habits and a hypocritical character. May Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, protect us all from these hypocritical habits (Ameen).
