دین کی سمجھ
حضرت معاویہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: ''جس کے لیے اللہ بھلائی کا ارادہ فرماتا ہے اسے دین میں تفقہ (سمجھ) عطا فرماتا ہے، اور میں تو (علم کو) تقسیم کرنے والا ہوں اور عطا کرنے والا تو اللہ ہی ہے۔'' (بخاری و مسلم)
انسانی زندگی میں علم کی بڑی اہمیت ہے، بلکہ علم درحقیقت انسان کے اخلاق و کردار کی اصل بنیاد ہے، انسان کی کامیابی کا انحصار اصل میں اس بات پر ہے کہ اسے حقیقت کا علم حاصل ہو جس کے مطابق وہ اپنی زندگی کو ڈھال سکے، اگر اسے اس بات کا علم ہی نہ ہو کہ اسے یہ زندگی کس نے عطا کی ہے اور اس زندگی کی اصل غرض و مقصد کیا ہے تو وہ بھلا زندگی کی صحیح راہ پر بھی چل نہیں سکتا اور نہ اپنے خالق کی مرضی پوری کرسکتا ہے، اس کی مثال بالکل ایسی ہے جیسے کوئی گہری تاریکی میں بھٹک رہا ہو اور اسے یہ بالکل خبر نہ ہو کہ وہ کہاں ہے اور اسے کس طرف جانا چاہیے۔ ایک مومن اور کافر میں اصل فرق علم کے حاصل ہونے کا ہے، اس فرق کی بنا پر ان کی زندگیوں میں اور ان کے انجام میں ایک عظیم فرق پایا جاتا ہے، مومن کو دنیا میں بھی حیاتِ طیبہ حاصل ہوتی ہے اور آخرت میں بھی اللہ تعالیٰ کی خوشنودی اور اس کی دائمی جنت کا مستحق قرار پائے گا اور کافر کے حصہ میں صرف اللہ تعالیٰ کی ناراضگی آئے گی اور ہمیشہ کے لیے اس کا ٹھکانہ دوزخ ہوگا۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ قرآن مجید اور احادیث میں علم و فہم اور بنیادی اہمیت دی گئی ہے، ارشاد باری تعالیٰ ہے:
''بتاؤ تو سہی جاننے والے اور بے علم کیا برابر ہیں؟''
(الزمر-9)
موضوعِ بحث حدیث سے اور مندرجہ بالا قرآنی آیت سے علم کی فضیلت کا اظہار ہوتا ہے کہ جس شخص کو اللہ تعالیٰ خیر و بھلائی کے راستے پر لگانا چاہتا ہے اسے علم کی دولت عنایت فرماتا ہے اور ظاہر ہے کہ یہ اللہ کی بہت بڑی نعمت ہے کہ کسی شخص کو دینی امور یعنی احکامِ شریعت اور راہِ ہدایت کی حقیقت و معرفت عنایت فرمادی جائے جو ہدایت و راستی کی سب سے بڑی شاہراہ ہے۔
''دین میں تفقہ'' سے مراد وہ فہم و بصیرت ہے جس کے سبب انسان پر دین کے حقائق روشن ہوتے ہیں، اسے دین کے احکام، دین کی غرض و غایت اور منشا کو وہ پا لیتا ہے، وہ اندھا دھند مقلد نہیں رہتا بلکہ پورے شعور کے ساتھ وہ اپنی زندگی کی پیروی کرتا ہے، اس پر یہ حقیقت منکشف ہوتی ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی اطاعت و بندگی کے بغیر انسان کی زندگی بے حاصل ہے، زندگی کی حقیقی کامیابی اسی میں ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی بندگی و اطاعت کے مفہوم سے محروم نہ رہے، اس حدیث سے معلوم ہوا کہ جس شخص کو یہ خوش قسمتی حاصل ہو کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے فقہ و بصیرت کی دولت سے نوازا ہو، اس لیے کہ یہ چیز جملہ بھلائیوں کا سرچشمہ ہے۔
ایک اور جگہ باری تعالیٰ کا ارشاد ہے: ''جسے حکمت (دین کی سمجھ) عطا کی گئی اسے بہت بڑی دولت عطا کی گئی۔''
(البقرۃ-269)
دین میں تفقہ اور اس کتاب یعنی قرآن مجید میں جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ہماری ہدایت و رہنمائی کے لیے نازل فرمائی ہے، بصیرت حاصل کرنا ہمارا فرض ہے، اس کے بغیر ہماری ساری زندگی بے کیف و بے مزہ اور پریشان رہے گی، ہمارے اعتقادات کھوکھلے اور ہماری عبادتیں بے روح ہونے کے سبب یہ فقہ ہی وہ چیز ہے جو یہ سب کچھ مہیا کرتی ہے وہ قرآن اور سنت ہی ہے، اس لیے ہم سب کو سرکارِ دو عالم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اس ارشاد پر بار بار غور کرکے دین میں بصیرت حاصل کریں اور اس کی تعلیمات اور اس کے احکام کو سمجھیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب مسلمانوں کو دین میں صحیح فہم و فراست عطا فرمائے اور اس پر عمل کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔ آمین

English translation
It is narrated from Hazrat Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "For whomever Allah intends good, He grants him understanding (fiqh) of the religion; I am only a distributor (of knowledge), and it is Allah alone who bestows." (Bukhari & Muslim)
Knowledge holds great importance in human life; indeed, knowledge is in reality the true foundation of a person's character and conduct. A person's success ultimately depends on gaining knowledge of the truth by which to shape his life. If he does not even know who gave him this life and what its real purpose is, he can neither walk the right path of life nor fulfil the will of his Creator. His case is exactly like one wandering in deep darkness, with no idea where he is or which way he should go. The real difference between a believer and a disbeliever is the attainment of knowledge; because of this difference, a great disparity appears in their lives and in their end. The believer attains a goodly life in this world, and in the Hereafter he will deserve Allah's pleasure and His everlasting Paradise, while the disbeliever's share is only Allah's displeasure, and his abode forever will be the Fire. This is why the Qur'an and the Ahadith give fundamental importance to knowledge and understanding. Allah says: "Say: are those who know and those who do not know equal?" (az-Zumar, 9)
The Hadith under discussion and the above Qur'anic verse make plain the excellence of knowledge: that whomever Allah wishes to set on the path of goodness, He grants the wealth of knowledge — and clearly this is a very great blessing of Allah, that a person be granted the reality and recognition of religious matters, that is, the rulings of the Shari'ah and the path of guidance, which is the greatest highway of guidance and rectitude.
By "understanding of the religion" is meant that insight and comprehension through which the truths of religion become clear to a person: he grasps the rulings of the religion and its aims and purpose; he does not remain a blind imitator but follows his path with full awareness. It is disclosed to him that without the obedience and worship of Allah human life is fruitless, and that the true success of life lies in not being deprived of the meaning of servitude and obedience to Allah. From this Hadith it is learnt that fortunate indeed is the one whom Allah has blessed with the wealth of understanding and insight, for this is the fountainhead of all goodness.
In another place Allah says: "Whoever is granted wisdom (understanding of the religion) has been granted abundant good." (al-Baqarah, 269)
It is our duty to gain understanding of the religion and insight into this Book, the Glorious Qur'an, which Allah has revealed for our guidance. Without it our whole life will remain joyless and troubled, our beliefs hollow and our acts of worship lifeless; and it is fiqh that provides all this, drawn from the Qur'an and the Sunnah. So we should all reflect again and again upon this saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, gain insight into the religion, and understand its teachings and rulings. May Allah grant all of us Muslims sound understanding and discernment in the religion, and the ability to act upon it. Ameen.
