لوگوں کو ہنسانے کا مشغلہ باعث ہلاکت ہے
حضرت بہز بن حکیم اپنے والد (حکیم ابن معاویہ) سے اور وہ اپنے والد (حضرت معاویہ ابن حیدہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: ''ہلاکت ہے اس شخص کے لیے جو باتیں کرتا ہے اور جھوٹ بولتا ہے تا کہ اس کے ذریعے لوگوں کو ہنسائے (پھر مزید فرمایا) اس کے لیے ہلاکت ہے، اس کے لیے ہلاکت ہے۔'' (مسند احمد، ترمذی، ابو داؤد و دارمی)
اس حدیث کی عربی عبارت میں ویل کا لفظ استعمال ہوا ہے۔ عربی میں ''ویل'' کے معنیٰ عظیم ہلاکت کے ہیں اور ویل دوزخ کی ایک گہری وادی کا نام بھی ہے جس میں اگر پہاڑ ڈال دیے جائیں تو گرمی سے پگھل جائیں، اہلِ عرب کے کلام میں یہ لفظ اس شخص کے لیے استعمال ہوتا ہے جو کسی برائی اور ناپسندیدہ امر کا ارتکاب کرتا ہے اس کو تنبیہ کرنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ ایسے لوگوں کے لیے ایک اور حدیث میں ہے:
حقیقت یہ ہے کہ بندہ ایک بات کہتا ہے اور صرف اس لیے کہتا ہے کہ اس کے ذریعے لوگوں کو ہنسائے تو وہ اس بات کی وجہ سے (دوزخ میں) جا گرتا ہے اور اتنی دوری سے گرتا ہے جو زمین و آسمان کے درمیانی فاصلہ سے بھی زیادہ ہوتی ہے اور یہ بھی حقیقت ہے کہ بندہ اپنے قدموں کے ذریعے پھسلنے سے زیادہ اپنی زبان کے ذریعے پھسلتا ہے۔ (بحوالہ بیہقی)
دوسروں کو ہنسانا لوگوں کا ایک مشغلہ ہے اور بعض قوموں تو مستقل اس کی روٹی کھاتی ہیں۔ یہ لوگ مختلف محفلوں میں جاتے ہیں لوگوں کو ہنسانے کے طریقے سوچتے رہتے ہیں طرح طرح کے جھوٹے قصے خود بناتے رہتے ہیں اور حاضرین کو ہنساتے ہیں، وہ اس کی بالکل بھی پرواہ نہیں کرتے کہ کس پر تہمت لگی اور کتنا جھوٹ بولا اور کتنے کفریہ کلمے زبان سے نکالے، اس کے علاوہ اور بھی بہت سے ایسے لوگ ہیں جو کہ ہنسانے ہی کا کام کرتے ہیں، اس مشغلہ سے بہت سے گناہ صادر ہوتے ہیں، جس کی وجہ سے رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مذکورہ بالا حدیث میں سخت وعید فرمائی، اور فرمایا کہ اس کے لیے ہلاکت ہے، پھر ہلاکت ہے، اس میں سب سے زیادہ بدترین طریقہ یہ ہے کہ دوسروں کو ہنسانے کے لیے کسی خاص شخص کا مذاق اڑایا جائے، اس کی نقل اتاری جائے اور اس کے ساتھ مسخرہ پن کیا جائے، بعض مرتبہ کسی کی غیبت بھی کی جاتی ہے جس سے حاضرین کو ہنسانا مقصود ہوتا ہے۔ دنیا میں تو ہنسنے ہنسانے سے ذرا دیر کے لیے نفس کو مزا تو مل جاتا ہے لیکن آخرت میں اس کی وجہ سے جو بربادی سامنے آئے گی اس وقت اس کے انجام کا پتہ چلے گا، کیونکہ کسی کی نقل اتارنا اور مذاق کرنا کوئی معمولی برائی نہیں، آخرت میں سب کا حساب ہے، کسی کمزور سے کمزور اور غریب سے غریب آدمی کا مذاق اڑایا جائے وہ یہاں کچھ نہیں کر سکتا لیکن اس کا پروردگار جزا کے دن اس کا بدلہ دلائے گا اور وہاں ہر دعوے دار ہو جائے گا کسی کا حق نہیں مارا جائے گا۔ جن لوگوں کا مشغلہ ہنسنے ہنسانے اور لوگوں کی برائیاں کرنے کا ہوتا ہے اول تو ایسے لوگ نیکیوں کی طرف توجہ ہی نہیں دیتے گناہوں میں ہی سارا وقت گذارتے ہیں لیکن اگر کوئی نیکی کر بھی لی ایسی کبھی کبھار کی نیکیوں کی تعداد اتنی معمولی ہوتی ہے کہ لوگوں کی بے آبرویاں کرکے وہ گناہوں کے پہاڑ اپنے سر رکھ لیتے ہیں ان پہاڑوں کے مقابلہ میں ان سب نیکیوں کی کیا حیثیت ہوگی؟
یوں ہنسنا انسان کی فطرت میں شامل ہے، بعض باتوں پر اچانک ہنسی آجاتی ہے ایسی ہنسی پر کوئی مواخذہ نہیں ہے، لیکن دوسروں کو ہنسانے کا مشغلہ کرنا یا خود زیادہ ہنستے رہنا انتہائی بری بات ہے، آج ہمارے اس دور میں ایسے لوگوں کو ادب شناس اور مہذب گردانا جاتا ہے کہ اس مشکل دور میں یہ لوگوں کو ہنساتے ہیں اور باضابطہ طور پر ان کو حکومت کی سرپرستی مہیا کی جاتی ہے اور انہیں بڑے سے بڑے حکومتی اعزازات سے نوازا جاتا ہے، لیکن یہ لوگ انتہائی غفلت کے عالم میں ہیں اور آخرت کے اس دن کو بھلائے بیٹھے ہیں جو کہ ایک اٹل حقیقت ہے اور جس دن ہر چیز کا حساب دینا ہے اور جس دن سب کچھ سامنے آجائے گا، اللہ تعالیٰ تمام مسلمانوں کو اس فعلِ بد سے محفوظ فرمائے۔ آمین

English translation
Hazrat Bahz ibn Hakim relates from his father (Hakim ibn Mu'awiya), and he from his father (Hazrat Mu'awiya ibn Haydah, may Allah be pleased with him), that the Noble Messenger ﷺ said: "Destruction is for the person who talks and tells lies so that by it he may make people laugh. (Then he added:) Destruction is for him; destruction is for him." (Musnad Ahmad, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and Darimi)
In the Arabic text of this hadith the word "wayl" is used. In Arabic "wayl" means grievous destruction, and Wayl is also the name of a deep valley of Hell into which, if mountains were cast, they would melt from the heat. In the speech of the Arabs this word is used for a person who commits some evil and objectionable act, and it is used to warn him. Regarding such people it is stated in another hadith:
The reality is that a servant says something, and says it only so that by it he may make people laugh; then, because of that word, he falls (into Hell), and falls from such a distance as is greater even than the distance between the earth and the sky. And this too is a reality: that a servant slips by his tongue more than he slips by his feet. (Reported by Bayhaqi)
Making others laugh is a pastime of people, and some communities actually earn their bread from it permanently. These people go to various gatherings, keep devising ways to make people laugh, keep inventing all kinds of false tales themselves, and make the audience laugh; they do not care in the least upon whom a slander has fallen, how much falsehood they have spoken, and how many words of disbelief have issued from their tongues. Besides these, there are many other such people whose whole occupation is making people laugh. From this pastime many sins issue, on account of which the Noble Messenger ﷺ gave a severe warning in the above hadith, and said that destruction is for him, then destruction is for him. The very worst method in this is that, to make others laugh, a particular person is mocked, his imitation is performed, and buffoonery is done at his expense; sometimes the backbiting of someone is also done, by which the intention is to make the audience laugh. In this world, through laughing and making others laugh, the self does gain some enjoyment for a little while, but in the Hereafter, when the ruin caused by it comes to light, then its end will be known — because mocking someone and jesting is no minor evil. In the Hereafter there is a reckoning for all: however weak and however poor the man who is mocked, he can do nothing here, but his Lord will have his recompense given to him on the Day of Recompense, and there everyone will become a claimant; no one's right will be taken away. As for those whose pastime is laughing and making others laugh and speaking ill of people — in the first place such people give no attention at all to good deeds and spend their whole time in sins; but even if they do some good deed, the number of such occasional good deeds is so slight that, by dishonouring people, they place mountains of sins upon their own heads — against these mountains, what will be the worth of all those good deeds?
Laughing in itself is part of human nature; over some things laughter comes suddenly, and there is no accountability for such laughter. But to make it a pastime to make others laugh, or oneself to keep laughing excessively, is an extremely bad thing. Today, in this age of ours, such people are reckoned as connoisseurs of culture and refined — in that, in this difficult age, they make people laugh — and formally the patronage of the government is provided to them, and they are honoured with the greatest state awards; but these people are in a state of utter heedlessness and sit forgetting that Day of the Hereafter which is an inevitable reality, on which an account of everything must be given, and on which everything will come to light. May Allah the Almighty keep all Muslims safe from this evil deed. Ameen.
