امت میں پیدا ہونے والے فتنے کا بیان
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”جلدی کرو اعمال صالحہ، ان فتنوں کے آنے سے پہلے جو اندھیری رات کے ٹکڑوں کی طرح (کہ ایک کے بعد دیگرے) واقع ہوں گے، (حال یہ ہوگا کہ) صبح کو آدمی مومن ہوگا اور شام کو کافر، شام کو مومن ہوگا اور صبح کو کافر۔ وہ (اس طرح کہ) اپنے دین کو معمولی دنیاوی اسباب و سامان کے عوض بیچ ڈالے گا۔“ (مسلم)
اس حدیث مبارک میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ خبر دی ہے کہ قیامت کے قریب پے در پے فتنوں کا ظہور ہوگا، فتنوں کی کثرت کے سبب سے لوگوں کی نظروں میں دین و ایمان کی کوئی حیثیت باقی نہیں رہے گی، دنیا حاصل کرنے کی دوڑ لگی ہوگی، حتیٰ کہ دنیاوی مفادات کے لیے اپنے دین و ایمان کا سودا کرنے میں بھی کسی قسم کی جھجک اور کوئی تامل نہیں ہوگا۔
اس حدیث پاک میں اعمال صالحہ جلدی کرو کی ہدایت کا حاصل یہ ہے کہ اس تغیر پذیر دنیا کو کسی ایک رخ پر قرار نہیں اور وقتی حالات کا بہاؤ ایک ہی سمت میں نہیں رہتا، اگر اب ایسے حالات ہیں جو عقیدہ و عمل کا رخ صحیح سمت میں رکھنے میں معاون بنتے ہیں تو بعد میں ایسے حالات بھی پیدا ہو سکتے ہیں جو کفر و نظریات اور عقیدہ و عمل کا سفر ٹھیک رخ پر جاری رکھنے میں زبردست رکاوٹ پیدا کر دیں، اور ایسے انسان کم ہی ہوتے ہیں جن کے ذہن و فکر اور دل و دماغ ان حالات کی تبدیلی سے محفوظ رہیں اور جن کے اعمال صالحہ میں رکاوٹ نہ پیدا ہوتی ہو، پس جس شخص کو جو بھی موقع ملے اس میں اچھے کام اور نیک عمل کرنے میں جلدی کرنی چاہیے اور جس قدر بھی نیک اعمال کیے جا سکتے ہوں کر لیے جائیں کیونکہ یہ کوئی نہیں جانتا کہ آنے والا وقت کیا فتنے لے کر آئے اور پھر اعمال صالحہ اختیار کرنے کا موقع بھی مل سکے یا نہیں۔
جیسا کہ قرآن مجید میں اللہ سبحانہ و تعالیٰ کا فرمان ہے۔ ﴿پس نیکیوں کی طرف جلدی کرو۔﴾ (البقرہ ۱۴۸)۔ اور ایک جگہ اس طرح فرمایا۔ ﴿اور جلدی کرو اپنے رب کی مغفرت اور جنت کی طرف، جس کی چوڑائی آسمان و زمین کے برابر ہے جو پرہیزگاروں کے لیے تیار کی گئی ہے۔﴾ (آل عمران ۱۳۳)
یہاں اس بات کی تعلیم دی گئی ہے کہ جلدی کرو اور نیکیوں کی طرف دوڑو، یعنی تاخیر مت کرو اور سست نہ بیٹھو نہ جانے کب وقت کا دھارا انسان کو کس موڑ پر لے آئے اور انسان پچھلے وقت کو یاد کر کے پچھتاتا رہے۔
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر یہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے منکشف کر دیا تھا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی امت پر ایسے حالات بھی آئیں گے کہ رات کے اندھیرے کی طرح نوع بہ نوع فتنے لگاتار پیدا ہوں گے، اور ان آنے والے فتنوں کے متعلق کسی کو یہ معلوم نہیں ہو سکے گا کہ وہ کب اور کیوں نمودار ہوں گے اور ان سے چھٹکارے کی راہ کیا ہوگی، لہٰذا ان آنے والے فتنوں سے پہلے ہی اعمال صالحہ کے ذریعے اپنی دینی زندگی کو مضبوط و مستحکم بنالو، آنے والے وقت کا انتظار نہ کرو، کیونکہ اس وقت دین و شریعت کے تعلق سے سخت ترین آفات و مصائب میں اس طرح گم ہو کر رہ جاؤ گے کہ نیک کام کرنے کا موقع ہی نہ پا سکو گے، وہ وقت لوگوں کے ذہن اور فکر و اعمال پر کتنا برا اثر ڈالے گا اور وہ فتنے کس قدر سریع الاثر ہوں گے اس کی طرف اس طرح اشارہ فرمایا گیا ہے کہ ان فتنوں کی وجہ سے ایسا بھی ہوگا کہ ایک آدمی صبح کو اس حال میں اٹھے گا کہ اپنے عقیدے اور عمل کے لحاظ سے اچھا خاصا مومن و مسلم ہوگا، لیکن شام ہوتے ہوتے وہ کسی گمراہی یا بدعملی میں مبتلا ہو کر اپنا دین و ایمان برباد کر دے گا، یا شام کو مومن تو صبح اس کے لیے گمراہی و کفر کا پیغام ثابت ہوگی، ایمان میں کوئی استحکام نہیں ہوگا۔
یہ فتنے گمراہ کن تحریکوں اور دعوتوں کی شکل میں بھی آ سکتے ہیں اور آتے رہے ہیں اور مال و دولت یا اقتدار کی ہوس اور دوسری نفسانی خواہشات کی شکل میں، اور اس وقت دنیا کا لالچ ایسا غالب ہوگا کہ لوگوں کے دلوں میں دین کی کوئی قدر و قیمت باقی نہ رہے گی، اور دنیاوی مفاد کے لیے لوگ اپنے دین و ایمان تک کا سودا کر دیں گے، اور ان کو دنیا حاصل کرنے کے لیے اپنے دین کو بیچ دینے میں کوئی تکلف یا عار نہیں سمجھیں گے۔
اس حدیث کا حاصل اور پیغام یہ ہے کہ ہر مومن آنے والے ایمان کش فتنوں سے ہوشیار رہے اور اعمال صالحہ کے اہتمام میں سبقت اور جلدی کرے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ کسی فتنہ میں مبتلا ہو جائے اور پھر اعمال خیر کی توفیق ہی نہ ہو، نیز اگر اعمال صالحہ کرتا رہے گا تو وہ اس بات کا مستحق ہوگا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ ایسے فتنوں سے اس کی حفاظت فرمائے۔

اس حدیث کا حاصل اور پیغام یہ ہے کہ ہر مومن آنے والے ایمان کش فتنوں سے ہوشیار رہے اور اعمال صالحہ کے اہتمام میں سبقت اور جلدی کرے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ کسی فتنہ میں مبتلا ہو جائے اور پھر اعمال خیر کی توفیق ہی نہ ہو، نیز اگر اعمال صالحہ کرتا رہے گا تو وہ اس بات کا مستحق ہوگا کہ اللہ تعالیٰ ایسے فتنوں سے اس کی حفاظت فرمائے۔
English translation
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Hasten to do righteous deeds before there come tribulations like pieces of a dark night (coming one after another), when a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by evening, and a believer in the evening and a disbeliever by morning; he will sell his religion for some paltry goods of this world." (Muslim)
In this noble hadith the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) foretold that near the end of time tribulations will appear one after another, and because of their abundance the value of faith and religion will not remain in people's eyes; there will be a race to acquire the world, so much so that people will feel no hesitation or reluctance in selling their faith and religion for worldly gain.
The purport of the instruction "hasten to righteous deeds" is that this ever-changing world does not stay on one course, and the flow of circumstances does not remain in one direction. If circumstances today help keep one's belief and conduct on the right course, later circumstances may arise that place great obstacles in the way of keeping belief and conduct on the straight path. Few are those whose mind, thought, heart and reason remain safe from such changes and whose righteous deeds are not obstructed; so whoever gets any opportunity should hasten to do good and perform as many righteous deeds as he can, for no one knows what tribulations the coming time will bring, nor whether the opportunity to do righteous deeds will remain.
As Allah the Exalted says in the Holy Qur'an: "So hasten towards good deeds." (Al-Baqarah 148). And in another place: "And hasten towards your Lord's forgiveness and a Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the God-fearing." (Aal-'Imran 133). Here the teaching is to hasten and rush towards good, that is, do not delay or sit idle, for no one knows to what turn the current of time may carry a person, leaving him to remember and regret the time gone by.
Allah had disclosed to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that such times would come upon his Ummah when tribulations of every kind would appear continuously like the darkness of night, and no one would know when and why they would emerge or how to escape them. Therefore, before these coming tribulations, make your religious life firm and strong through righteous deeds; do not wait, because at that time, amid the severest afflictions concerning religion and law, you will be so lost that you will find no opportunity to do good. As an indication of how badly that time will affect people's minds, thoughts and deeds, and how swift these tribulations will be in effect, it was said that because of them a man will rise in the morning as a fine believer and Muslim in creed and conduct, but by evening will have ruined his faith by falling into some misguidance or evil deed; or a believer in the evening for whom the morning proves a message of misguidance and disbelief — there will be no stability in faith.
These tribulations may come, and have come, in the form of misguiding movements and calls, and in the form of greed for wealth, power and other carnal desires. At that time the love of the world will so prevail that religion will have no worth in people's hearts, and for worldly gain people will sell even their faith, feeling no scruple or shame in selling their religion to obtain the world.
The essence and message of this hadith is that every believer should be wary of the faith-destroying tribulations to come and should be foremost in performing righteous deeds, lest he fall into some tribulation and then have no ability left to do good; moreover, if he keeps doing righteous deeds he will deserve that Allah protect him from such tribulations.
