اخلاصِ نیت
حضرت ابو ہریرہ عبدالرحمن رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بن صخر سے روایت ہے کہ، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے جسموں اور تمہاری صورتوں کو نہیں دیکھتا، بلکہ وہ تمہارے دلوں اور عملوں کو دیکھتا ہے“۔ (مسلم)
انسان کے تمام اعمال کا دارومدار اس کی نیت پر ہے، کوئی عمل چاہے وہ دیکھنے میں کتنا ہی نیک ہو، اس کا اجر آخرت میں صرف اسی صورت میں ملے گا جب کہ وہ اللہ کی رضا اور خوشنودی کے لیے کیا گیا ہو، اور اگر وہ عمل اخلاصِ نیت سے نہیں کیا تو آخرت میں اس کی کوئی قیمت نہ ہو گی، اور اس کا وہ عمل کھوٹا سکہ قرار پائے گا، اس لیے کہ بارگاہِ خداوندی میں کسی عمل کی مقبولیت کا انحصار صرف خلوص پر ہے، اس لیے ہر نیک عمل میں اس کا اہتمام ضروری ہے اور دل کو ہر اس چیز سے صاف رکھنا چاہیے جس سے وہ عمل برباد ہو سکتا ہے، جیسے ریا کاری اور نمود و نمائش کا جذبہ وغیرہ۔
اس حدیثِ مبارک سے ایک اور حقیقت واضح ہوتی ہے کہ بیک وقت دل اور عمل دونوں کی اصلاح ضروری ہے، کیونکہ ایک کی اصلاح دوسرے کی اصلاح پر انحصار کرتی ہے، یعنی دل صحیح ہو گا تو اعمال بھی درست ہوں گے، اور عمل درست ہوں گے تو دل بھی صحیح رہے گا، اعمال کی اصلاح کے بغیر دلوں کی اصلاح اور دلوں کی اصلاح کے بغیر اعمال کی اصلاح ممکن نہیں۔
نیت کی صورت میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے اہلِ ایمان کو وہ نسخہ کیمیا عطا فرمایا ہے کہ جس کی بنیاد پر ذرا سی توجہ سے مسلمان مٹی کو سونا بنا سکتا ہے، انسان کی زندگی کا کوئی جائز کام جسے کوئی نیک نیتی سے کرے ثواب کا کام بنایا جا سکتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ میاں بیوی آپس میں ایک دوسرے سے اگر نیک نیت سے لذت حاصل کریں تو ایک دوسرے کے حق ادا کر رہے ہیں، اور اس سے دونوں کو عفت اور پاکدامنی حاصل ہو گی تو اس عمل پر بھی ثواب لکھا جائے گا۔ الغرض زندگی کے تمام جائز امور جو کہ روزمرہ میں کیے جاتے ہیں صرف اخلاصِ نیت سے اجر کا باعث بن سکتے ہیں۔

نیت کی صورت میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے اہلِ ایمان کو وہ نسخہ کیمیا عطا فرمایا ہے کہ جس کی بنیاد پر ذرا سی توجہ سے مسلمان مٹی کو سونا بنا سکتا ہے، انسان کی زندگی کا کوئی جائز کام جسے کوئی نیک نیتی سے کرے ثواب کا کام بنایا جا سکتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ میاں بیوی آپس میں ایک دوسرے سے اگر نیک نیت سے لذت حاصل کریں تو ایک دوسرے کے حق ادا کر رہے ہیں، اور اس سے دونوں کو عفت اور پاکدامنی حاصل ہو گی تو اس عمل پر بھی ثواب لکھا جائے گا۔ الغرض زندگی کے تمام جائز امور جو کہ روزمرہ میں کیے جاتے ہیں صرف اخلاصِ نیت سے اجر کا باعث بن سکتے ہیں۔
English translation
Abu Hurayrah 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sakhr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah does not look at your bodies or your appearances, but rather He looks at your hearts and your deeds.” (Muslim)
All of a person's deeds depend upon their intention. However outwardly righteous a deed may appear, its reward in the Hereafter is granted only when it is done to seek Allah's pleasure. If a deed is not performed with sincere intention, it will have no value in the Hereafter and will be reckoned as a counterfeit coin, because the acceptance of any deed in the court of Allah rests solely upon sincerity. For this reason, sincerity must be observed in every good deed, and the heart should be kept clean of everything that can ruin the deed, such as showing off and the desire for display.
This blessed hadith also makes clear another truth: the heart and one's deeds must both be reformed together, for the soundness of one depends upon the soundness of the other. That is, if the heart is sound, the deeds too will be right; and if the deeds are right, the heart too will remain sound. The reform of the heart is not possible without the reform of deeds, nor the reform of deeds without the reform of the heart.
Through intention, Allah has granted the believers an alchemy by which, with a little attention, a Muslim can turn dust into gold. Any lawful act of a person's life, when done with good intention, can be made an act of reward — so much so that if a husband and wife take lawful pleasure in one another with good intention, they are fulfilling each other's rights, and both attain chastity and modesty, so that even this act is recorded as reward. In short, all the lawful affairs of daily life that are performed routinely can become a source of reward through sincerity of intention alone.
