قربِ قیامت کی علامتیں

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When the spoils of war are treated as personal wealth, when a trust is regarded as spoils, when zakat is treated as a penalty, when knowledge is acquired for something other than religion, when a man obeys his wife, when a person disobeys his mother, when friends are kept close and the father is kept at a distance, when voices are raised (over worldly matters) in the mosques, when the leadership of a people is given to their most corrupt member, when the heads and leaders of a community are its meanest and most cowardly, when a person is honoured out of fear of his evil and mischief, when singing women and instruments of music become widespread, when wine is drunk, and when the later people of this ummah revile and curse its earlier righteous people — then expect these things to appear soon: a red storm (that is, a fierce and most violent wind), earthquakes, the swallowing up of the earth, the transformation of forms, and stones raining from the sky; and expect other signs alongside these punishments, coming one after another like the beads of a broken necklace falling in succession.

This hadith mentions some evils that, although they have always existed in the world, are such that when they spread widely in a society and become dominant, one should understand that Allah's severest punishment — in whatever form it may take — is about to descend upon that society, and that the end of the world has drawn very near.

The matters foretold in this hadith are already present today, and some of their consequences (such as earthquakes) are appearing here and there; and these calamities and disasters coming before us are the recompense for our own misdeeds and sins.
