اہلِ جنت کی سب سے بڑی تعداد امتِ محمدی ﷺ پر مشتمل ہوگی

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said: “(On the Day of Resurrection, in the plain of Gathering) Allah will call out, ‘O Adam!’ Adam will reply, ‘Here I am, ready to obey You, and all good is in Your hands.’ Allah will say, ‘Bring out the people of the Fire’ — that is, the inhabitants of Hell — ‘set apart from your offspring those destined to be sent to the Fire.’ Adam will ask, ‘How many shall I set apart (for the host of the Fire)?’ Allah will say, ‘Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand’ (that is, the ratio of the people of Hell is such that out of every thousand, one man will enter Paradise and the rest will be cast into the Fire). On hearing this command of the Lord, people will be as though drunk with intoxication — though (they will not be intoxicated by wine; rather the intoxication of Allah's punishment is severe; that is, their daze and stupor will be out of dread and terror of the divine punishment). The Companions, (when they heard that the ratio of those entering Paradise would be only one in a thousand, said in fear and longing:) ‘That one (who out of the thousand will go to Paradise) — who among us will he be?’ The Prophet ﷺ, (to reassure and console them,) said: ‘Be at ease, do not grieve; the one (who enters Paradise) will be from among you, and the thousand (who enter the Fire) will be Gog and Magog (Ya'juj and Ma'juj).’ Then he ﷺ said: ‘By the One in whose hand is my soul, I hope that (O people of my Ummah) you will be a quarter of the total people of Paradise.’ (Abu Sa'id said:) We raised the cry of takbir (that this is a great blessing of Allah, that we will be among the deserving of Paradise in such large numbers). The Prophet ﷺ then (to give even greater glad tidings) said: ‘I hope that you will be a third of the total people of Paradise.’ (We) again raised the cry of takbir. He ﷺ said: ‘(O people — this is a great distinction of the Muhammadan Ummah —) I hope that the largest portion of the people of Paradise will be from this very Ummah, whereas in the world your number is very small — for among the peoples your number is like a single black hair on the body of a white bull, or a single white hair on the body of a black bull.’” (Bukhari and Muslim)

From this blessed hadith we all receive an important message: that just as Allah made His beloved, Muhammad ﷺ, the master of all the prophets, so too He granted the Ummah of His beloved a special distinction over the Ummahs of all the other prophets. It is now incumbent upon us all that however much we thank Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, for this special grace and favour, it is little — that Allah created us in the Ummah of His beloved, Muhammad ﷺ.
