ماہِ شعبان میں نفلی روزوں کی کثرت
حضرت اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو کسی مہینے میں ماسوائے رمضان کے اتنے روزے رکھتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھتا جس قدر روزے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم شعبان میں رکھتے ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: ”لوگ اس رجب اور رمضان کے درمیان والے مہینے کی فضیلت سے غافل ہیں، حالانکہ اس مہینے میں لوگوں کے اعمال اللہ تعالیٰ کے سامنے پیش کیے جاتے ہیں، لہٰذا میں چاہتا ہوں کہ میرے اعمال اللہ تعالیٰ کے سامنے میری روزہ داری کی حالت میں پیش ہوں۔“ (ابو داؤد و نسائی)
ماہ شعبان میں کثرت سے روزے رکھنا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا معمول رہا ہے، ماہ شعبان میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زیادہ نفلی روزے رکھنے کے کئی سبب اور کئی حکمتیں بیان کی گئی ہیں، جن میں سے بعض وہ ہیں جن کی طرف بعض حدیثوں میں بھی اشارہ ملتا ہے۔
اس حدیث مبارکہ میں بھی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حضرت اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کو اس ماہ مبارک کی ایک خاص عظمت و فضیلت بیان فرمائی ہے کہ جس کی طرف سے امت غافل ہے، اس ماہ کی خاص عظمت و فضیلت یہ ہے کہ اس میں انسان کے اعمال اللہ تعالیٰ کے حضور پیش ہوتے ہیں، اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ چاہتے تھے کہ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے اعمال اللہ تعالیٰ کے رو برو پیش ہوں تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روزے سے ہوں، اور ایک اور حدیث میں کچھ اس طرح ہے کہ اس ماہ مبارک میں پورے سال میں مرنے والوں کی فہرست ملک الموت کے حوالے کی جاتی ہے، اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم یہ چاہتے تھے کہ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وفات کے بارے میں ملک الموت کو احکام دیئے جائیں تو اس وقت آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روزے سے ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم قریب قریب شعبان کے پورے مہینے روزے رکھتے تھے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی مبارک سنتوں پر عمل کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔ آمین!

English translation
Usāmah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: I said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, apart from Ramadan I do not see you fast in any month as much as you fast in Shaʿbān." He ﷺ said: "People are heedless of the excellence of this month that lies between Rajab and Ramadan, although it is a month in which people's deeds are presented before Allah the Exalted; so I like that my deeds be presented before Allah the Exalted while I am fasting." (Abū Dāwūd and Nasā'ī)
Fasting abundantly in the month of Shaʿbān was the regular practice of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Several reasons and wisdoms have been mentioned for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ keeping more voluntary fasts in Shaʿbān, and some of them are those to which certain hadiths also point.
In this blessed hadith too, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ described to Usāmah ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) a special greatness and excellence of this blessed month to which the Ummah is heedless: its special greatness and excellence is that in it the deeds of man are presented before Allah the Exalted. For this reason the Messenger of Allah ﷺ liked that when his deeds were presented before Allah the Exalted he should be fasting. And in another hadith it comes in this way: that in this blessed month the list of those who are to die during the whole year is handed over to the Angel of Death; for this reason the Messenger of Allah ﷺ liked that when the decrees concerning his own passing were given to the Angel of Death, he should at that time be fasting. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast almost the entire month of Shaʿbān.
May Allah the Exalted grant us all the ability to act upon the blessed sunnahs of the noble Prophet ﷺ. Āmīn!
