تلاوتِ قرآن کا اجر و ثواب
حضرت ابن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: ”جو شخص قرآن کا ایک حرف پڑھے تو اس کے لیے ہر حرف کے عوض ایک نیکی ہے (اور یہ ایک نیکی اللہ تعالیٰ کے قانون کرم کے مطابق) دس نیکیوں کے برابر ہے (یعنی قرآن کے ہر حرف کے عوض دس نیکیاں ملتی ہیں، مزید وضاحت کے لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا) میں یہ نہیں کہتا کہ سارا الٓمّٓ ایک حرف ہے (بلکہ) الف ایک حرف ہے، لام ایک حرف ہے اور میم ایک حرف ہے (اس طرح الٓمّٓ پڑھنے والا بندہ تیس نیکیوں کے برابر ثواب حاصل کرنے کا مستحق ہوگا)“۔ (ترمذی، دارمی)
قرآن کریم پوری انسانیت کے لیے اللہ تعالیٰ کا سب سے بڑا انعام ہے، اس کا اصل حق تو یہ ہے کہ اس پر سمجھ کر عمل کیا جائے، لیکن اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے بندوں کو اپنی رحمت سے نوازنے کا ایک ذریعہ قرآن کریم کے الفاظ کی تلاوت کو بھی قرار دیا ہے، یعنی قرآن کریم کے الفاظ کی تلاوت بھی بے انتہا اجر و ثواب کی حامل ہے، بعض لوگ نادانی سے یہ سمجھتے ہیں کہ قرآن کریم کو سمجھے بغیر پڑھنے سے کیا حاصل ہے؟ وہ لوگ اللہ تعالیٰ کی کتاب کو انسانوں کی کتاب پر قیاس کرتے ہیں جن کو بے سمجھے پڑھا جانا فضول سمجھا جاتا ہے، حالانکہ قرآن کریم اللہ تعالیٰ کی کتاب ہے، اس کی تعلیمات تو دنیا و آخرت کی فلاح کی ضامن ہیں ہی لیکن اس کے ایک ایک لفظ میں نور ہے اور اس کی محض تلاوت بھی موجب ثواب اور باعث خیر و برکت ہے، اس لیے ادب اور عظمت کے ساتھ اس کی صرف تلاوت بھی اللہ تعالیٰ کے ساتھ محبت و عبدیت کے تعلق کو ظاہر کرنے والا ایک عمل ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ کا یہ کریمانہ قانون ہے کہ ایک نیکی کرنے والے کو دس نیکیوں کے برابر ثواب ملے گا، جبکہ برائی کرنے والے کو اسی برائی کے عوض سزا ملے گی، اللہ تعالیٰ کا واضح فرمان ہے۔
”جو شخص ایک نیکی کرے گا اس کو اس جیسی دس نیکیوں کا ثواب دیا جائے گا، اور جو شخص ایک برا کام کرے گا اس کو اس کے برابر ہی سزا ملے گی“۔ (الانعام – ۱۶۰)
اس حدیث مبارکہ سے معلوم ہوا کہ اگر کوئی شخص صرف الٓمّٓ تلاوت کرے تو صرف اتنی تلاوت سے بھی اس کے نامۂ اعمال میں تیس نیکیوں کا اضافہ ہو جاتا ہے، ساتھ ہی اس حدیث سے یہ بھی معلوم ہوا کہ یہ ثواب بے سمجھے پڑھنے پر بھی ملتا ہے، کیونکہ الٓمّٓ ایک ایسا لفظ ہے جس کے معنی کوئی نہیں جانتا، نہ اس کا صحیح مفہوم سمجھنے کا کوئی امکان ہے، کیونکہ یہ حروف مقطعات میں سے ہے جو متشابہات میں داخل ہیں اور ان کے معنی کوئی نہیں جانتا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان حروف کی مثال دے کر یہ بھی واضح فرما دیا کہ تلاوت قرآن پاک کا یہ ثواب معنی سمجھنے پر موقوف نہیں ہے بلکہ بے سمجھے تلاوت پر بھی یہ ثواب ملتا ہے۔
غرض جب صرف الٓمّٓ پڑھنے پر تیس نیکیاں حاصل ہوئیں تو قرآن کریم کا ایک رکوع یا ایک سورت پڑھنے سے کتنا اجر و ثواب حاصل ہوگا؟ اس لیے ہر مسلمان کو چاہیے کہ ہر روز صبح کو دوسرے کاموں میں مشغول ہونے سے پہلے قرآن کریم کی کچھ نہ کچھ تلاوت کا معمول بنائے، اگر زیادہ نہ پڑھ سکتے تو پاؤ پارہ، اور اگر اتنا بھی ممکن نہ ہو تو کم از کم ایک رکوع ہی پڑھ لیا کرے تو ہر روز اس کے نامۂ اعمال میں سینکڑوں نیکیوں کا اضافہ ہوتا رہے گا، اسی طرح ہر مسلمان کو چاہیے کہ قرآن کریم کی کچھ سورتیں زبانی یاد کر لے تا کہ جب بھی موقع ملے، قرآن کریم کھولے بغیر وہ زبانی تلاوت کر سکے اور اس طرح چلتے پھرتے، اٹھتے بیٹھتے بھی اپنے نامۂ اعمال میں نیکیوں کا اضافہ کر سکے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو یقین کی دولت نصیب فرمائے اور زیادہ سے زیادہ وقت قرآن کریم کی تلاوت کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔ آمین!
”جو شخص ایک نیکی کرے گا اس کو اس جیسی دس نیکیوں کا ثواب دیا جائے گا، اور جو شخص ایک برا کام کرے گا اس کو اس کے برابر ہی سزا ملے گی“۔ (الانعام – ۱۶۰)

غرض جب صرف الٓمّٓ پڑھنے پر تیس نیکیاں حاصل ہوئیں تو قرآن کریم کا ایک رکوع یا ایک سورت پڑھنے سے کتنا اجر و ثواب حاصل ہوگا؟ اس لیے ہر مسلمان کو چاہیے کہ ہر روز صبح کو دوسرے کاموں میں مشغول ہونے سے پہلے قرآن کریم کی کچھ نہ کچھ تلاوت کا معمول بنائے، اگر زیادہ نہ پڑھ سکتے تو پاؤ پارہ، اور اگر اتنا بھی ممکن نہ ہو تو کم از کم ایک رکوع ہی پڑھ لیا کرے تو ہر روز اس کے نامۂ اعمال میں سینکڑوں نیکیوں کا اضافہ ہوتا رہے گا، اسی طرح ہر مسلمان کو چاہیے کہ قرآن کریم کی کچھ سورتیں زبانی یاد کر لے تا کہ جب بھی موقع ملے، قرآن کریم کھولے بغیر وہ زبانی تلاوت کر سکے اور اس طرح چلتے پھرتے، اٹھتے بیٹھتے بھی اپنے نامۂ اعمال میں نیکیوں کا اضافہ کر سکے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو یقین کی دولت نصیب فرمائے اور زیادہ سے زیادہ وقت قرآن کریم کی تلاوت کی توفیق عطا فرمائے۔ آمین!
English translation
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ص said: “Whoever recites a single letter of the Qur’an, for him there is one good deed for each letter, and this one good deed (by Allah’s law of grace) is equal to ten good deeds (that is, for each letter of the Qur’an ten good deeds are given). (For further clarification he ص said:) I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter; rather Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter (so whoever recites Alif-Lam-Mim deserves a reward equal to thirty good deeds).” (Tirmidhi, Darimi)
The Noble Qur’an is Allah’s greatest gift to all humanity. Its true due is that it be acted upon with understanding; but Allah has also made the mere recitation of the words of the Noble Qur’an a means of favouring His servants with His mercy — that is, reciting the words of the Noble Qur’an too carries boundless reward. Out of ignorance, some people think: what is gained from reciting the Qur’an without understanding it? Such people measure the Book of Allah against the books of men, which are considered pointless to read without understanding — whereas the Noble Qur’an is the Book of Allah. Its teachings are indeed a guarantee of welfare in this world and the Hereafter, but in every single word of it there is light, and even its mere recitation is a cause of reward and a source of goodness and blessing. Therefore reciting it alone, with respect and reverence, is an act that manifests one’s bond of love and servitude with Allah. It is Allah’s gracious law that the doer of one good deed will be rewarded with the equivalent of ten good deeds, while the doer of an evil will be requited only with the like of that evil. Allah says clearly:
“Whoever does a good deed will be given the reward of ten like it, and whoever does an evil deed will be requited only with the like of it.” (al-An'am: 160)
From this noble hadith we learn that if a person recites only Alif-Lam-Mim, then even from that much recitation thirty good deeds are added to his record of deeds. At the same time, from this hadith we also learn that this reward is granted even for reciting without understanding, because Alif-Lam-Mim is a word whose meaning no one knows, nor is there any possibility of grasping its true sense, since it is among the disjointed letters (al-huruf al-muqatta'at), which fall under the ambiguous verses (mutashabihat) whose meaning no one knows. By citing the example of these letters, the Messenger of Allah ص also made it clear that this reward for reciting the Holy Qur’an does not depend on understanding its meaning; rather, this reward is granted even for reciting without understanding.
In short, when thirty good deeds are gained merely by reciting Alif-Lam-Mim, how much reward will be gained by reciting one ruku' or one surah of the Noble Qur’an! Therefore every Muslim should, each morning, before becoming occupied with other tasks, make it a habit to recite some portion of the Noble Qur’an. If he cannot recite much, then a quarter of a juz'; and if even that is not possible, then let him recite at least one ruku', so that every day hundreds of good deeds keep being added to his record. Likewise, every Muslim should commit some surahs of the Noble Qur’an to memory, so that whenever he gets the chance he may recite from memory without opening the Qur’an, and thus, while walking about, sitting and standing, add to the good deeds in his record.
May Allah grant us all the wealth of certainty and the enabling grace to recite the Noble Qur’an for as much time as possible. Amin!
