شراب کی حرمت
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ابو طلحہ انصاری کے گھر میں مجلس قائم تھی اور شراب کا دور چل رہا تھا، ان کو پلانے والا میں تھا، اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر شراب حرام ہونے کا حکم نازل ہوا کہ آپ نے اسی وقت ایک منادی کو حکم دیا کہ وہ اس کا اعلان مدینہ میں کرے، چنانچہ اس نے اعلان کیا۔ ابو طلحہ نے مجھ سے کہا کہ (باہر) نکل کر دیکھو کہ یہ کیسی پکار رہی ہے اور کیا اعلان ہو رہا ہے؟ میں باہر نکلا اور (آ کر) بتایا کہ منادی اعلان کر رہا ہے کہ شراب حرام ہوگئی۔ تو ابو طلحہ نے مجھے حکم دیا کہ جاؤ اور اس ساری شراب کو بہا دو، (چنانچہ) میں نے ایسا ہی کیا اور دوسرے گھروں والوں کی بھی یہی صورت تھی، شراب مدینہ کی گلیوں میں بہنے لگی۔ انس کہتے ہیں کہ اس دن جو شراب بہائی گئی، بہت سے اللہ کے بندے اسی حالت میں شہید ہوئے کہ وہ ان کے پیٹ میں تھی (تو ان کا انجام کیا ہوگا؟) تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ (سورہ مائدہ کی) آیت نازل فرمائی: (ترجمہ) "جو لوگ شراب کی قطعی حرمت کے حکم کے آنے سے پہلے اس دنیا سے اٹھ چکے ہیں اور ان کی زندگی ایمان اور عمل صالح والی تھی تو اس پچھلے دور کے کھانے پینے کے بارے میں ان سے کوئی پوچھ نہ ہوگی۔" (بخاری و مسلم)
دینِ اسلام نے پاک و طیب کھانے پینے کی چیزوں کو حلال اور خبیث اور انسانیت کے لیے نقصان دہ چیزوں کو حرام قرار دیا ہے۔ شراب ایک ایسی چیز ہے کہ جس کی خباثت اور برائی میں کسی کو شک نہیں ہے۔ اس کے پینے کے بعد انسان جانوروں کے درجے پر اتر آتا ہے کہ جانور بھی عقل سے عاری ہیں اور شراب نوش بھی اس کے پینے کے بعد عقل سے محروم ہو جاتا ہے۔ اسی لیے اسلام نے شراب کو حرام قرار دیا اور اس کو تمام برائیوں کی جڑ قرار دیا۔
یہ حدیث اسلام کی قوت اور عملیت کا منہ بولتا ثبوت ہے۔ واضح رہے کہ شراب نوشی کی ممانعت اس قوم پر لاگو کی جا رہی ہے جس کی گھٹی میں شراب پڑی ہوئی تھی۔ ان کے گھر گھر میں یہ بنائی جاتی تھی اور انفرادی و اجتماعی زندگی کا کوئی موقع اس سے خالی نہ تھا۔ ان کی شاعری اس کے ذکر سے بھری ہوئی ہے لیکن صرف ایک اعلان کے ساتھ ہی وہ اس سے ایسے کنارہ کش ہوتے ہیں جیسے اس کو جانتے ہی نہ تھے۔
اس کے مقابلے میں پچھلی صدی میں امریکہ نے ام الخبائث پر پابندی لگائی، کروڑوں ڈالر کی اشتہار بازی اور پبلسٹی کے بعد نتیجہ یہ نکلا کہ پابندی کے عرصے میں اس کا استعمال بڑھ گیا اور اموات بھی پہلے سے زیادہ ہوئیں اور بالآخر یہ پابندی اٹھانی پڑی۔
ہمارے دور میں فحاشیت کا ناسور ہر طرف پھیل چکا ہے، کیا تہذیبِ نو کے علمبردار اس کا کوئی حل پیش کریں گے؟ میڈیا مہم، قوانین، سزائیں سب ناکام ہو چکے۔ محمد عربی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس اس کا حل موجود ہے!

English translation
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that a gathering was being held in the house of Abu Talhah al-Ansari and wine was being passed around, and I was the one serving it. Meanwhile the command prohibiting wine was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so at that very moment he ordered a caller to announce it in Madinah, and he made the announcement. Abu Talhah said to me: "Go out and see what this call is and what is being announced." I went out and (came back and) told him that the caller was announcing that wine had been made forbidden. Abu Talhah then ordered me: "Go and pour out all this wine." So I did, and the same was the case with the other households; wine began to flow in the streets of Madinah. Anas said: On that day, as the wine was poured out, many of the servants of Allah had died as martyrs while it was still in their bellies — (so what would be their fate?). Then Allah the Exalted revealed this verse (of Surah al-Ma'idah): (translation) "Those who passed away from this world before the decisive command prohibiting wine came, and whose lives were of faith and righteous deeds — there will be no questioning of them concerning what they ate and drank in that earlier time."
The religion of Islam has declared pure and wholesome foods and drinks lawful, and filthy things and things harmful to humanity unlawful. Wine is a thing whose filth and evil no one doubts. After drinking it, a person sinks to the level of animals, for animals are devoid of reason, and the drinker too is deprived of his reason after drinking. That is why Islam declared wine forbidden and declared it the root of all evils.
This hadith is living proof of the strength and practicality of Islam. It should be clear that the prohibition of wine was applied to a people in whose very nature wine was ingrained. It was made in every one of their homes, and no occasion of individual or collective life was free of it; their poetry is filled with its mention — yet with a single announcement they turned away from it as though they had never known it.
By contrast, in the last century America banned this mother of evils; after millions of dollars of advertising and publicity, the result was that during the period of prohibition its use increased and deaths too were greater than before, and finally the ban had to be lifted.
In our age the cancer of indecency has spread everywhere. Will the standard-bearers of modern civilisation present any solution for it? Media campaigns, laws and punishments have all failed. Muhammad the Arabian ﷺ has the solution for it!
