گناہوں کا کفارہ
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک درخت کے پاس سے گزرے جس کے پتے سوکھ چکے تھے، آپ ﷺ نے اس پر اپنا عصا مبارک مارا تو اس کے سوکھے پتے جھڑ پڑے (اور ان کے ساتھ موجود صحابہ کرام نے یہ منظر دیکھا) پھر آپ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا کہ: "یہ کلمے 'سبحان اللہ والحمد للہ ولا الہ الا اللہ واللہ اکبر' بندے کے گناہوں کو اس طرح جھاڑ دیتے ہیں جس طرح تم نے اس درخت کے پتے جھڑتے دیکھا ہے"۔ (ترمذی)
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جس طرح اللہ تعالیٰ کے ذکر کی ترغیب اور تاکید فرمائی ہے اسی طرح رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کچھ خاص کلمات بھی تلقین فرمائے ہیں، اگر یہ نہ ہوتا تو اس بات کا امکان تھا کہ علم و معرفت کی کمی کی وجہ سے بہت سے لوگ اللہ تعالیٰ کا ذکر اس طرح کرتے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے شایان شان نہ ہوتا، لہٰذا اللہ کے محبوب نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی امت کو خود ان کلمات کی تفصیلات بتائیں، اس لیے ہر مومن کو چاہیے کہ ان کلمات کا ذکر کرے جو کہ قرآن مجید اور احادیث سے ثابت شدہ ہیں تاکہ زیادہ سے زیادہ اجر کے حقدار بنیں اور ساتھ ہی اتباع سنت کا بھی ثواب ملے۔
اس حدیث مبارکہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کلمہ تمجید (تیسرا کلمہ) کے ایک جز و کی افضلیت کا ذکر فرمایا ہے، دراصل یہ چار کلمات نہایت مختصر اور ہلکے پھلکے ہیں لیکن ان میں اللہ تعالیٰ کے تمام اسماء حسنیٰ کی صفات موجود ہیں، ایک بزرگ عالم نے کس طرح ان کلمات کی مختصر مگر جامع تشریح فرمائی ہے ملاحظہ فرمائیں:
"سبحان اللہ" پاک ہے اللہ ہر عیب و نقص سے اور ان تمام چیزوں سے جو اس کی شان کے مناسب نہیں۔
"الحمد للہ" ساری خوبیاں اور کمال کی سب صفتیں اس میں موجود ہیں، لہٰذا سب تعریفیں اسی کے لیے ہیں، اور جب اس کی شان یہ ہے کہ ہر نا مناسب بات سے وہ پاک ہے اور تمام خوبیاں اور کمالات سب اس میں موجود ہیں تو پھر وہی ہمارا معبود و مطلوب ہے۔
"لا الہ الا اللہ" ہم اس کے اور بس اس کے ماننے والے بندے ہیں اور وہ بہت ہی بڑا ہے۔
"اللہ اکبر" ہم کسی طرح اس کی بندگی کا حق ادا نہیں کرسکتے، اور اس کی عالی بارگاہ تک ہماری رسائی نہیں ہوسکتی مگر یہ کہ وہ ہماری مدد فرمائے۔
بلا شبہ یہ چار کلمے اپنی قدر و قیمت اور عظمت و برکت کے لحاظ سے ایسے ہیں جو کہ بندوں کے گناہوں کا اس طرح کفارہ کرتے ہیں جس طرح رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس حدیث میں درخت کے سوکھے پتے عصا کی ایک ضرب سے جھاڑ کر اپنے صحابہ کرام کو ایک نمونہ دکھایا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ہمیں ان کلمات کی عظمت و تاثیر سے استفادہ کی توفیق نصیب فرمائے (آمین)۔

English translation
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a tree whose leaves had dried up. He struck it with his blessed staff, and its dry leaves fell off (and the Companions present with him witnessed this). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These words — Subhan Allah, wal-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha illa Allah, wallahu akbar — shake off a servant's sins just as you have seen the leaves of this tree fall." (Tirmidhi)
Just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged and stressed the remembrance of Allah, he also taught certain special phrases. Had he not done so, there was a danger that, through a lack of knowledge and understanding, many people would remember Allah in a manner unbefitting His majesty. So Allah's beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself explained to his Ummah the details of these words. Every believer should therefore recite these words, which are established from the Qur'an and the ahadith, so as to earn the greatest reward and also gain the merit of following the Sunnah. In this blessed hadith the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the excellence of one part of the third Kalimah (Kalimah Tamjeed). In reality these four phrases are very short and light, yet they contain all the attributes of Allah's most beautiful names. Note how beautifully a pious scholar has given a brief yet comprehensive explanation of these words:
"Subhan Allah" — Allah is free of every fault and defect and of everything unbefitting His majesty.
"Al-hamdu lillah" — all excellences and every attribute of perfection are present in Him, so all praise belongs to Him alone; and since He is free of everything unbefitting and possesses all excellences and perfections, He alone is our object of worship and desire.
"La ilaha illa Allah" — we are the servants of Him and Him alone, and He is truly the greatest.
"Allahu akbar" — we can in no way fulfil the right of His worship, nor can we reach His exalted court unless He helps us.
Without doubt these four phrases, in their worth and greatness and blessing, are such that they expiate the sins of servants just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in this hadith, shook the dry leaves off the tree with a single strike of his staff, showing his Companions an example. May Allah grant us the ability to benefit from the greatness and effect of these words. (Ameen)
