اسلام اور اچھا لباس

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No one who has even an atom's weight of arrogance (pride) in his heart will enter Paradise.” A man said: A person likes his clothes to be good and his shoes to be good (is that arrogance)? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance is rejecting the truth and looking down upon people.” (Muslim)

From this hadith we learn that adopting beauty and refinement in clothing, in one's dwelling, and in adornment (decoration) within permissible limits, and pleasing one's heart, is not against the religion. However, if all this is done to appear great before people and while regarding others as inferior, then that is arrogance and pride, and its outcome is not good. Someone has aptly said: adornment is permissible, comfort is permissible, beautification is permissible, but ostentation is not permissible! May Allah protect us all.
