ایثارِ عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ
حضرت عبدالرحمٰن ابن خباب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں، اس وقت میں بھی نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی مجلس مبارک میں حاضر تھا جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم (جیشِ عسرہ) (جنگِ عسرہ) کی مالی امداد کے لیے لوگوں کو جوش دلا رہے تھے۔ حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ (آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی جوش) تلقین سن کر کھڑے ہوئے اور عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! اللہ کی راہ میں کام آنے کے لیے سو (100) اونٹ مع ان کی جھولوں اور پالانوں کے میں اپنے ذمہ لیتا ہوں (یعنی اس جنگ کے لیے اللہ کی راہ میں سو (100) اونٹ مع ان کے ساز و سامان کے پیش کرتا ہوں) اس کے بعد (اسی مجلس میں یا کسی اور موقع پر) آنحضرت صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پھر لوگوں کو اس جنگ کے لیے امداد و معاونت کی طرف متوجہ اور راغب کیا تو حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے اور عرض کیا کہ (پہلے سو اونٹوں کے علاوہ مزید) دو سو (200) اونٹ مع ان کی جھولوں اور پالانوں کے اللہ کی راہ میں اپنے ذمہ لیتا ہوں۔ پس (حضرت عبدالرحمٰن ابن خباب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ) میں نے دیکھا رسول کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم منبر سے اترتے جاتے تھے اور فرماتے جاتے تھے کہ اس عمل کے بعد اب عثمان جو بھی کریں ان کو کوئی نقصان نہیں ہوگا، اس عمل کے بعد اب عثمان جو بھی کریں اس سے ان کو کوئی نقصان نہیں ہوگا۔ (ترمذی)
حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ دعوتِ اسلام کے آغاز ہی میں اسلام و ایمان کی دولت سے بہرہ ور ہوئے تھے، حضرت عمر فاروق رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی شہادت کے بعد تیسرے خلیفہ ہوئے، حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ اپنی حیا و فیاضی کی وجہ سے بہت مشہور ہیں، جیشِ عسرہ اس اسلامی لشکر کو کہتے ہیں جو غزوۂ تبوک یا جنگِ تبوک کے لیے تیار کیا گیا تھا، اس جنگ کی تیاری میں بھی آپ نے جو فیاضی کا مظاہرہ کیا اس پر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی اللہ کی راہ میں مالی ایثار اور ان کے حوصلہ کو دیکھ کر جو الفاظ ارشاد فرمائے ان کا حاصل یہ ہے کہ حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کا یہ عمل نہ صرف یہ کہ ان کے گذشتہ گناہوں اور لغزشوں کا کفارہ ہو گیا، بلکہ آئندہ بھی اگر ان سے کوئی خطا سرزد ہو جائے تو وہ اس عمل کے سبب معاف ہو جائے گی، پس گویا ان الفاظ میں اس بشارت کی طرف اشارہ کیا کہ حضرت عثمان غنی رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کا خاتمہ بالخیر کی سعادت ہوگی، یعنی اللہ کی راہ میں مال خرچ کرنے کی کتنی فضیلت ہے اس کا اندازہ مذکورہ بالا حدیث سے بخوبی ہوتا ہے۔
اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے ان بندوں کو جو کہ اس کی راہ میں اپنا مال خرچ کرتے ہیں اس طرح خوش خبری دیتا ہے:
''جو لوگ اپنا مال اللہ تعالیٰ کی راہ میں خرچ کرتے ہیں اس کی مثال اس دانے جیسی ہے جس میں سے سات بالیاں نکلیں اور ہر بالی میں سو دانے ہوں، اور اللہ تعالیٰ جسے چاہے بڑھا چڑھا کر دے اور اللہ تعالیٰ کشادگی والا اور علم والا ہے'' (البقرہ ۔ 261)
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو اپنی اپنی حیثیت کے مطابق اخلاصِ نیت کے ساتھ اللہ تعالیٰ کی راہ میں مال خرچ کرنے کی توفیق مرحمت فرمائے (آمین)۔
اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے ان بندوں کو جو کہ اس کی راہ میں اپنا مال خرچ کرتے ہیں اس طرح خوش خبری دیتا ہے:
''جو لوگ اپنا مال اللہ تعالیٰ کی راہ میں خرچ کرتے ہیں اس کی مثال اس دانے جیسی ہے جس میں سے سات بالیاں نکلیں اور ہر بالی میں سو دانے ہوں، اور اللہ تعالیٰ جسے چاہے بڑھا چڑھا کر دے اور اللہ تعالیٰ کشادگی والا اور علم والا ہے'' (البقرہ ۔ 261)
اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کو اپنی اپنی حیثیت کے مطابق اخلاصِ نیت کے ساتھ اللہ تعالیٰ کی راہ میں مال خرچ کرنے کی توفیق مرحمت فرمائے (آمین)۔
English translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: I too was present in the blessed gathering of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when he was urging the people to give financial support for the Army of Hardship (Jaysh al-Usrah, the campaign of Tabuk). Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him), hearing his impassioned exhortation, stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم! I take upon myself one hundred (100) camels, together with their saddle-cloths and saddles, for the cause of Allah (that is, for this campaign I offer one hundred (100) camels with their full equipment in the way of Allah). After that (in the same gathering or on another occasion) the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم again drew the people's attention and urged them to give aid and support for this campaign, so Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: I take upon myself, in the way of Allah, a further two hundred (200) camels (in addition to the first hundred), together with their saddle-cloths and saddles. Then (Abd al-Rahman ibn Khabbab, may Allah be pleased with him, says) I saw the Noble Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم descending from the pulpit, saying: After this deed, nothing Uthman does will harm him; after this deed, nothing Uthman does will harm him. (Tirmidhi)
Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) was blessed with the wealth of Islam and faith at the very beginning of the call to Islam, and became the third caliph after the martyrdom of Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him). He is renowned for his modesty and generosity. Jaysh al-Usrah is the name of the Muslim army that was prepared for the expedition of Tabuk. Seeing the generosity Uthman displayed in preparing for this campaign — his financial sacrifice and his high resolve in the way of Allah — the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم uttered words whose meaning is that this deed of Uthman's not only became an expiation for his past sins and slips, but that even if some fault were to issue from him in the future, it too would be forgiven on account of this deed. Thus these words point to the glad tidings that Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) would be blessed with a good end. From this the great merit of spending wealth in the way of Allah can be well gauged, as is clear from the above hadith.
Allah, the Exalted, gives this glad tidings to those of His servants who spend their wealth in His way:
"The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts seven ears, in each ear a hundred grains; and Allah multiplies for whom He wills, and Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing" (Al-Baqarah 261).
May Allah, the Exalted, grant us all the ability to spend in His way, each according to his means, with sincerity of intention. Amin.
